About

Cats Are Us is a registered 501(c) (3) non-profit organization founded in December 1997. We are an all-volunteer rescue and adoption agency located in Clarksville, TN, about 50 miles NW of Nashville near Fort Campbell, KY. We do not euthanize healthy animals and will give them a safe, caring home until they are adopted.

Since our inception, we have rescued thousands of animals. While we specialize in cats, we have accommodations for several dogs. We currently care for approximately 150 cats and several dogs. We rely solely on donations and volunteers to keep our animals happy and healthy. Your donations are tax-deductible and very much needed and appreciated. To learn more about how to help us continue our mission visit our Ways to Help page.

  1. I have a small dog about 40 lbs. She is a little over 1and a half years old. She is a great little dog with a huge personality. Loyal and loving. She loves kids and loves to play. She needs room to run. She is up to date on all her shots and has been fixed. I am getting divorced and moving and can’t take her with me. The animal shelter where I live isn’t a no kill and she deserves a good home. Can you help me out?

  2. yes hello I have found a dog she is a puppy not taken care off I am not able to take care of her my job has me going in and out she is not feed well i am feeding her now. my cell number is 931-237-3043

  3. Cat-R-US is a horrible organization. They are a scam and are more worried about making money off dogs than actually finding them a good home. I will never do business with them. EVER. Go to the Montgomery county shelter!!!

    • Cats Are Us is a totally volunteer organization and NO ONE makes any money off this organization. What donations or adoption fees that we receive go immediately back into the shelter for the animal’s well-being, for maintenance to the shelter, to cover vet costs, etc. No on receives a salary from this organization. If anything we all spend money to help out the animals. Afterall that is what this is all about … the welfare of the animals.

    • You obviously know very little about this organization. The volunteers and fosters typically spend their own money caring for these animals. They need the money from adoptions and donations to pay their vet bills, buy food and litter, and cover the many other costs associated with running a rescue. They also make a great effort to make sure that their animals are placed in good homes, which means sometimes turning down applicants who might not be suitable. But there might be ways to overcome that. For instance, if an applicant does not have a good vet reference, they might try to take the time to volunteer for a while to build a relationship with the organization in order to prove that they do truly care about the animals. In doing so, they may come to appreciate the organization and the people who help make it work. However, please do visit the Montgomery County Shelter as well. Those animals also need good homes.

      • Thank you, Tracy, for those kind words. We try our best with what we have. We are very happy to have anyone volunteer at the shelter or help out in any way possible and we need those volunteers desperately, especially foster parents. Your idea about working at the shelter to earn trust is a wonderful idea. Once again, thank you for your comments.

  4. I Can not thank Cats are Us enough for my cat Nike. He is the sweetest little guy, and Cats are Us has helped in anyway possible to make sure he is healthy and loved. I will continue to recommend people to Cats are Us for adoptions and for lending a helping hand. I cant think of a better bunch of people in an organization! A very special thank you to Suzanne and Angela for all their Support and help.
    God Bless!

    • I will pass this comment along to both of them and we thank you so much for adopting one of the best and sweetest cats we have ever had in our rescue. May you and Nike be blessed with a very long and healthy life together.
